Sierra Nevada: Big Pine Lakes

We were off this July 4th weekend on a backpacking trip to the Sierra Nevada's. Me and Lawrence just love the outdoor. There's nothing more relaxing waking up to and sleeping out in the backcountry. You truly are able to appreciate the grandeur that nature has to offer and at the same time be humbled with its vastness and sometimes unforgiving moments. We told ourselves before that we were going to be ultra-light backpackers but I guess it didn't happen this time. What did end up happening was lugging a round 25lbs/each on our backs through 6.5 miles in and 3,500 ft of elevation gain. That also means another 6.5 out. Yikes! Ohh and I almost forgot to mention that we were lucky enough to have brought insect repellant because those summer mosquitos were just relentless. I'd like to think they worked but coming back home, me and Lawrence both had a delayed reaction and eventually started to feel the wrath of their bites. In the end, it was all worth it. Would we do it again this time around next year? Absolutely.

Kevin and Lorelie Wed

I suppose you can say that my turn around time in posting Kevin and Lorelie's photos was pretty fast. It was shot in Northern California at Palomarin Beach. We were so excited that the second we got in our cars we paused to look over the photos of that day...yes, we looked at ALL the photos in our car. As mentioned before, Lorelie and Kevin had a very intimate wedding and it was an honor for us to have shot the memorable occasion. Some things I'd like to note: the whole wedding was completely DIY (Do It Yourself). Both Kevin and Lorelie wanted to incorporate a little something about them in the wedding. First, you'll notice that there's a recurring item on this blog and that is the bouquet. The bouquet is all handmade with anemonies, berries, peonies and other various leaves. So from there you can say it was made with much care and attention. And lastly, the beautiful bride is my husband's sister, which is why this shoot will definitely hold a special place forever in our little hearts and our exciting adventure into creating lasting memories with you, with us and those we haven't met yet! May your path lead to a lifetime of happiness and love.
