LAST POST! WELCOME the NEW

I am very sad to see this go but we all have to progress right? So this will be the last post. Modern Lightbox will FOREVER hold a special place in my heart (ok, let the cliche's roll in). After all, Modern Lightbox is where all of this began and by "this" I mean quiet possibly one of the biggest milestones both me and Lawrence has undertaken. As many of you know, I'm not very good with coding, html, css, "what have you's" savvy. Believe me I tried. I tried and codes and css and all that jazz...we just don't get along. BUT I tried so very hard to work and dabble in something I'm so totally not familiar with and thus the new website/blog is born. Hours and days of toiling with the unknown and speaking to technical support with my web host (I think I made friends with "Drew" and "Charles").

So Modern Lightbox is no more. But please welcome Marianne-Sabado Photography.

Day 2 of 365

01.02.12

A few days ago I got into the groove of cleaning for the new year. In the midst of Lawrence's annoyance with my superstition I found solace in finding an old Vivitar camera a friend gave (I'm sorry, loaned "indefinitely") to us. The last time I had my hands on an SLR was in high school learning about film photography and developing my own photos in the darkroom. So with this little find I found sweet digression: fidget, tested and eventually came about to my New Year's resolution, geezzzz! I'm sorry again, I meant New Year's goals because according to Lawrence (his exact words): "I don't have New Year's resolution, I don't believe in them...I believe in setting goals." WOW. At this moment I felt like I just stepped out of an Anthony Robbins speaking engagement. So here's our New Years' goals:

Take the helm in our health: we felt like we weren't as healthy as we should have been last year so this year it's all about gym, juicing, decreased animal intake (this is going to be VERY hard) and spend time with family and friends (yeessss you guys are a part of our health).

Get in the water & get on the mountain: me and Lawrence are big on hiking and backpacking and as of December last year we are now certified open water divers so this year we are getting in the water and getting on the mountain as much as our free time can squeeze in.

Modern Lightbox Photography: just because I typed this last doesn't mean it's last on my list. Our business has given us so much more than we could have asked for last year. We reconnected with friends as well as made new ones. This year we are going to kick it up 10 notches by focusing and investing time and creativity on Modern Lightbox. All this made possible by ALL OF YOU. Cheers to a fantastic 2012!

Lollipop, Tutu (and a whole-lotta-running)

12.29.11

Here's yet another fun and fantabulous family shoot I had the pleasure of capturing at Abalone Cove in Palos Verdes. The Wun family came armed with ridiculously cute outfits for their kiddos and props to keep them "entertained" (I use this word loosely since entertainment could turn into a cool distraction). While the photos seemed like it was taken during the Spring it was actually cold. How cold? Well, cold enough for me to wear Lawrence's comfy down jacket (Ohh yeah, when shooting kids/family portraiture, I dress down...wayyyy down). Anyway Michelle, Daycon, Daniel and Mckenzie (if she could talk) braved the cold weather and the outcome turned into quiet a remembrance. By the way, at the end of our shoot, Michelle's family stopped by for a little fun.

I freaked out when I saw Mckenzie's clothes the second she was brought out of the car: pink tutu with flowers and this off white boots...to-die-for.

Poor thing. Being the center of attention in a photo shoot is hard work! You have to take refuge somewhere right? That's what moms' blanket's for.

Daniel was just too proud of his oversized lollipop. I think I've blogged (or Facebooked) how much appreciation I now have for lollipops as big as my head.

I told the gang to do something funny. Honestly, I never thought how awesome AND funny this picture would turn out.

Ahhh, the holiday season. Brings out the Tazmanian Devil a.k.a "Taz" in me. Eating everything in sight and even after all that eating, eating some more. So here's hoping that Lawrence will be able to roll my comfy self into the car after a fun day (and night) of binge eating with family and friends.

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas filled with good food, great conversations, great company and memories to last a lifetime.
